The Panic

It sets in ever so quickly and unannounced.

It starts as nausea and ends with shortness of breath and chest pain.

My thoughts seem to race and I can’t put my finger on what caused it or why it’s back.

My go-to coping strategies have recently changed. For that I am grateful but it’s still a challenge to calm my frayed nerves.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Focus on the breathing.

Everything about the breathing.

And it passes.

The calm sets in.

I hear the white noise of my ceiling fan.

I feel the cool breeze.

I focus on the candle flame that flickers nearby.

I think of all of my blessings and I am thankful to have air in my lungs and a soft pillow beneath my head.

And I breathe.




Keep shining.

Find a way to glow.
